Remember Reefer Madness, the 50’s anti-marijuana propaganda film that became something of a cult hit for nerdly stoners? Apparently some idiots thought it would be hilarious to parody it as a musical, and holy god in hell were they wrong.
It’s the same basic plot: A clean-cut boy and girl get caught up in the sleazy world of reefer smoking, which culminates until the evil drug dealer shoots the girl and blames it on the boy. Just like Shakespeare. Also there a musical numbers which take up half the movie and which have all the worst aspects of a musical at all time. Just like in my fever-induced nightmares.
Basically it’s a terrible musical with no sense of humor, and it isn’t helped whatsoever by Molly Shannon and that bad guy from Spy Kids and some guy doing a really bad Bobcat Goldthwait impression. I even got really high to watch this movie and it didn’t help at all, so it doesn’t even have that going for it. It’s a terrible thing and I wish I could un-see it.
