There’s something refreshing about seeing a movie that’s so clearly a ripoff of another, popular film that they don’t even try to hide it. They just give up and go, “look, you like Indiana Jones, right? Well here’s some more of that, just off-brand.” And then they somehow get Bob Newhart to do his schtick in it too.

There’s a magic library with all sorts of magic items in it, and this nerd is selected to take over as Librarian after the old one (Kyle MacLachlan) dies. Or at least, it seems he dies. Instead he faked his death and joined up with some generic bad guy ninja gang and now they’re going after the spear of Longenus which will allow him to the rule the world and they have to go through temples to collect the pieces and blah blah etc etc.

If you’re looking for yet another action-adventure Indiana Jones ripoff and you want something worse than Tomb Raider, The Librarian series is your ticket! That’s right, it’s a series, they made three of these dogs. Also, I’m pretty sure they’re SyFy Channel original movies, so that should help give you the right perspective on the quality you get here.
