The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption (2012)
Directed by: Roel Reiné
Starring: Victor Webster, Bostin Christopher, Billy Zane
I haven’t seen the first two Scorpion King movies, and I really have no desire to. All I feel I need to know is that they had the Rock in them and this one doesn’t because he probably wanted too much money… or even worse, that he was just too GOOD for it. A movie too bad for the Rock, but perfect for Billy Zane.
A king is ran off from his lands because he’s bad at kinging, so he goes to Ron Perlman for work. He teams up with a fat guy named Olaf and they go out adventurin’ to stop the crazy and evil Billy Zane from taking over the world with the help of three awesome fighters he brings back from the grave with the book of the dead. Well, A book of the dead, anyway.
It doesn’t really get any more generic fantasy adventure than this movie. Really all that stands out is that it’s depressing how many stupid movies Ron Perlman will appear in, and that Billy Zane seems to actually be getting WORSE as the years go on. It’s possible that he just didn’t care and laughed his way to a paycheck, but it seems like a performance this bad can only really happen if someone as terrible as Zane goes all out.
