The Babymakers (2012)

Directed by: Jay Chandrasekhar

Starring: Paul Schneider, Olivia Munn, Kevin Heffernan

one-star

I’ve enjoyed some of the “Broken Lizard” films before, like Beerfest and Super Troopers, but this… this was fucking terrible. Definitely a big part of it is that it stars Paul “The Boring Guy From Parks & Recreation” Schneider and Olivia “Wait, She Seriously Has a Career Now?” Munn, who have all the on-screen chemistry of Lennie Smalls and a cute puppy.

Schneider and Munn are married and want to have a baby, but his sperms are “confused” and can’t get the job done. He decides to hire an Indian second-story man to break into the sperm bank he donated to years ago and get back the last sample of his good seed so he won’t have to adopt.

Yeah, the main couple aren’t funny at all, but the rest of the problem lies in the incredibly awful story. Also that there aren’t any good jokes in it. Director Chandrasekhar’s role as the Indian guy is probably the highlight, but even then there isn’t a whole lot of comedy to be found here. It lacks any of the innovation or creativity found in his earlier films and is instead a shitty, boring romantic comedy with characters you don’t care about going through predictable arcs. It’s no good.
