And Now… Ladies and Gentlemen… (2002)

Directed by: Claude Lelouch

Starring: Jeremy Irons, Patricia Kaas, Thierry Lhermitte

Welp, that’s the end of the Ed Asner challenge, now it’s time for my very last one (FOREVER), five Jeremy Irons movies. Hey, this could be okay, right? Jeremy Irons is a pretty good actor. On the other hand, my friends are assholes who want me to watch terrible French movies that are 60% lounge singing, apparently. Assholes.

Jeremy Irons plays a very successful thief who gets stuck in the middle east somewhere with a lady lounge singer. They wander across the desert and talk to each other about their lives, and when they get back to civilization, Irons decides that he’s going to pay back everyone he ever swindled, and the woman… uh… has no real character arc at all. She was kinda sad at the beginning, and at the end she feels a little better, I guess. Not really the same thing.

Basically the only parts of this film that are even barely interesting are where Irons is doing his confidence game thing to steal jewels from people. And really, those weren’t anything special or unique, but it beats people talking slowly to each other in the desert. You don’t even worry about them during their trip or anything. Ugh.
