Babylon 5: Thirdspace (1998)

Babylon 5: Thirdspace (1998)

Directed by: Jesús Salvador Treviño

Starring: Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Mira Furlan

This movie is… it’s not good. Partly because it takes place in the middle of the fourth season of Babylon 5, which is fucking amazing in comparison. I don’t know why I watched all these B5 movies, I was just going to have to review them and have all this negative stuff about the show on here.

Someone finds a huge alien device in hyperspace and start trying to get it to work, even though it’s been making people act weird and fights have been going on all over the place. They do not connect these two things together until someone realizes something and asks the computer to connect these obvious things together. The device is a portal to another type of space… a kind of……….. third….space, and there are cthulu aliens that live there and they want to kill us.

I’m as big a fan of Lovecraft as anyone, but am I the only one who thinks that people doing Lovecraft “homage” to be a really lazy decision? You have a whole other dimension or ultimate horror or whatever that you can do anything with, and it’s always “yep, big ol’ space octopus.” Eh, maybe I’m just bitter from watching too many SyFy channel original movies.
