Scooby-Doo in Arabian Nights (1994)

Scooby-Doo in Arabian Nights (1994)

Directed by: Jun Falkenstein, Joanna Romersa

Starring: Don Messick, Casey Kasem, Greg Burson

This is barely even a Scooby-Doo movie, but that won’t stop me from being a completionist and watching it anyway! I… kinda wish that it had stopped me, but there we have it.

Shaggy gets caught in the position of Scheherazade, as he has to tell stories to a sultan to keep him from wanting to marry him (Shaggy is disguised as a harem girl, for some reason). The two stories he tells are vaguely Aladdin (with Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo as the genies) and Sinbad (with Magilla Gorilla as Sinbad). It’s just as bad as it sounds.

The 90’s must’ve been a dark, sad time for Hannah-Barbara. I mean, if this seemed like a good idea to anybody at any point in time, you know there must’ve just been NOTHING better on the horizon. This is the kind of thing that I’d imagine was written by someone on the edge of suicide.
