Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964)

Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964)

Directed by: Ishirô Honda

Starring: Yosuke Natsuki, Yuriko Hoshi, Hiroshi Koizumi

As opposed to Mothra vs Godzilla, which won it’s three star rating from a good story, this first film with Ghidorah gets it singularly for the monster fighting action, which is really damn awesome. The story is garbage, but I don’t care.

A meteor falls from space and unleashes the coolest Godzilla monster of them all: King Ghidorah! He’s got three heads, all of which breathe fire, and despite having a body that looks like a radish, he’s really fucking quick and can fly. Can Godzilla, Rodan, and one of the Mothra larvae defeat this horrible monster? Probably!

I think this is the first time they go to Godzilla to help them against another monster. Before that he was either the one they were worried about or he just happened to fight the other guys and everything worked out all right. I don’t really blame them, though, Ghidorah is so fucking awesome, you gotta bring out every monster you can find to fight the bastard.
