Monster Zero (1965)

Monster Zero (1965)

Directed by: Ishirô Honda

Starring: Nick Adams, Akira Takarada, Jun Tazaki

Yeah, four stars. This is, hands down, one of the best Godzilla movies. It’s up there with Destroy all Monsters, which by complete coincidence, has the exact same plot to it. I swear, those things are not related at all. Nope. No way.

Some astronauts head to Planet X and meet up with some aliens there who ask for their help in getting rid of King Ghidorah, who apparently just decided to stop by and terrorize them. In exchange for Earth’s assistance (namely by donating Godzilla and Rodan to help stop Ghidorah), they’ll give them medicines and space stuff. HOWEVER! It turns out it was all a trick and the aliens were in control of Ghidorah from the start, and now that they have mind control devices on all three monsters, they’ve taken Earth hostage! Oh no!

Yeah, this is a really good one. You’ve got Ghidorah, the best monster, the really lame spacemen… man, what else could you even ask for? That’s all I need in a movie, anyway.
