Rumble in the Bronx (1995)

Rumble in the Bronx (1995)

Directed by: Stanley Tong

Starring: Jackie Chan, Anita Mui, Françoise Yip

Aww yeah, Jackie Chan. Man, I fucking love Jackie Chan movies. Especially these early ones when he was still really young and spry and not always assigned an unfunny b-list actor as comic relief. Why would Jackie Chan need comic relief?! He’s funny as hell!

Jackie Chan is fresh off the boat in the Bronx to attend his uncle’s wedding. While he’s there, he helps out the woman who buys his uncle’s grocery store, befriends a little crippled child, meets a hot chick, and gets repeatedly attacked by a biker gang and some guys in suits who pretend to be from the FBI. Lots of kicking and jumping around chairs are had by all.

The action in this movie is great. Of course. It’s even more impressive after you learn that Chan broke his foot and kept filming for another 20 days with a makeshift cast that looked like a shoe. I don’t really know what else to say about this. It’s young Jackie Chan kicking the shit out of people and it’s awesome. You should see it. You should see every Jackie Chan movie. Well, all of them made before 2000, at least.
