Directed by: Jim Kammerud, Brian Smith

Starring: Barry Bostwick, Jason Alexander, Martin Short

I’m not exactly sure what happened to Disney to make them want to make direct-to-video sequels to all their classic films forty years after the originals were made, but it was a bad, bad idea. And really, of all the movies, 101 Dalmatians?

101 Dalmatians II takes place between the part in the original movie where they defeat Cruella De Ville and when they move to live on a giant farm where all the puppies can roam free (which I’m convinced is that same farm where you say that dead dogs have gone to little kids). One of the puppies, instead of moving, decides to audition for a role as a dog sidekick on TV, and ends up having to save all the rest of the puppies from Cruella again with the help of his hero, a dog from TV.

While this is a really generic kid’s show at heart, there’s just something weird about reanimating the decayed corpse of 101 Dalmatians to do it with. But hey, I’m sure they made money off of it, and that’s all that really matters. Now that I think about it, maybe they got the idea from Lucas…
