The Circus (1928)

The Circus (1928)

Directed by: Charlie Chaplin

Starring: Charlie Chaplin, Al Ernest Garcia, Merna Kennedy

Holy shit, Charlie Chaplin has a huge head!

The Circus is a pretty standard sort of Chaplin movie. He plays his “Tramp” character who gets a short job at a circus because he’s funnier than any of their clowns without even trying. Literally without trying, because if he does try, he’s not funny at all. Of course, this is Charlie Chaplin, so him being not funny is actually also pretty funny. Look, there’s complicated comedy calculus involved here, I’m not going to go into it for YOUR sake.

This is a funny movie. You should watch it. I don’t think I need to say anything else beyond that.
