Ca$h (2010)

Ca$h (2010)

Directed by: Stephen Milburn Anderson

Starring: Sean Bean, Chris Hemsworth, Victoria Profeta

Well, color me surprised, I really didn’t expect to like any of these 2010 movies that I’m being FORCED to watch all week, but Ca$h was actually pretty good. Except for that stupid-ass name, ugh. From now on, I’m calling it Cash, okay? Good.

Sean Bean and his brother, Sean Bean, steal half a million dollars, but while they’re escaping from the cops, they lose the money. It’s found by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Everyman, and they decide to spend the money on extravagant things like a truck and a TV. Bean 1 finds them by looking at the records of who bought a new car with cash (Bean 2 is in prison the whole movie), then gets them to give back everything and get him his money back. Of course, even after that they still don’t have the exact amount that he had, so he forces them to start robbing convenience stores and eventually a bank. Meanwhile, the couple find themselves changing in small ways, learning to enjoy the thrill of theft and the power of holding a gun to someone’s head.

The first half of the movie was kinda boring, honestly, with Sean Bean’s quiet assassin character seeming more like he was just tired than menacing, but once they start robbing convenience stores, it actually gets pretty interesting. There’s a lot of really subtle changes in the couple that you start noticing, and it’s a little scary. Of course, it has to have a happy ending, and it’s… well, let’s just say it doesn’t end the way I would’ve ended it. Therefore it’s bad.
