I think I mentioned this before, but there’s this awesome video store here in Denver where they sell old, shitty VHS tapes for a buck apiece. I’ve gone there twice now, each time with a boon of twenty tapes. The first batch had some really, really horrible stuff in it, and so far the same is true for this second batch.

Salty is a complete and total ripoff of Flipper, except it’s got a sea lion instead of a dolphin. Also, Clint Howard is the little kid who befriends the aquatic animal. Yep.

In fact, Salty is such a ripoff of Flipper, they made a short-lived TV series based on the movie a year later, which, obviously, failed. Probably because Clint Howard wasn’t in the series. I guess he was too big of a name to do a TV show. Ouch.
