Android (1982)

Android (1982)

Directed by: Aaron Lipstadt

Starring: Klaus Kinski, Brie Howard, Norbert Weisser

Ah, my good old friend Klaus Kinski. You know, back in high school I used to think that he was stalking me because over the course of a week, every single movie I rented (I rented a lot of movies back in those days, before the internet. Yep, I’m old) had him in it. What an old creepy jerk.

Kinski is a mad scientist who lives on an isolated space station with the android that he created. The fact that this guy is an android is “revealed” about five different times, even though it was painfully obvious from the beginning. Anyway, the android is lonely, so he allows some fugitives to hang out in their space station, which Kinski goes along with because one of them is a woman, and for his new lady android to work, apparently people have to have sex in the room with her. What.

There’s a part in here where the android watches Metropolis and makes comparisons to Kinski and Rotwang, the man who designs the robot Maria, which are actually very apt. They look the same! And he built a robot! AMAZING! It’s always a bad idea to show parts of a good movie in your shitty movie. Anyway, I thought it was funny because Kinski is probably best known for his part as Count Orloff in the 80’s remake of Nosferatu, which is… you know, old and silent like Metropolis. Okay, fine, it’s not funny. Shut up.
