A Dirty Shame (2004)

A Dirty Shame (2004)

Directed by: John Waters

Starring: Tracey Ullman, Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair

Hooray, I’ve finally gotten to this movie! Not because it’s really worth being talked about or anything, but because it’s the last movie on my list and I’m finally caught up! That NEVER HAPPENS.

A Dirty Shame is about a community that’s divided between the “neuters” (people who hate sex and everything to do with it) and the “perverts” (people who… well, are basically over-the-top perverts). It’s really not subtle at all with the interactions between these two groups, but who the hell expects John Waters to be subtle?

Now, technically I didn’t watch the real version of this movie. The version that was on OnDemand was the heavily censored version Waters made so it could actually be released under an R rating instead of NC-17 like the actual movie is. He obviously did this out of spite, because the thing is chopped to hell and the swear words are messily recorded over with other words that only barely make sense. The funny thing is, his big “fuck you” to censors with this type of censorship is significantly more funny than the actual movie is.
