Carry on Emmannuelle (1978)

Carry on Emmannuelle (1978)

Directed by: Gerald Thomas

Starring: Suzanne Danielle, Kenneth Williams, Kenneth Connor

Yep, another one of these kinds of movies. They all came in this pack of “grindhouse” movies that I got in hopes that there’d be more than two kung fu movies on it, I swear.

Carry on Emmannuelle is a sex comedy, in that there’s a lot of partial nudity and the punchline to every joke is either “sex” or “penis”. The title character is the wife of the French ambassador to England, and since her husband got into a skydiving accident, he can’t satisfy her in bed anymore. This causes her to have sex with every other ambassador, public servant, and just anybody else she can find.

This movie didn’t seem all THAT bad at the time, but I think it was just because I was comparing it to movies like Mandinga and Schoolgirl Hitchhikers. Just because it’s better than garbage like that doesn’t mean it isn’t garbage itself. I guess it was mostly just a nice change to watch a comedy in the middle of all that stuff more than anything else, even if it wasn’t particularly funny.
