Oh boy, yet another CGI movie with talking animals voiced by celebrities. Be still my beating heart.
Let’s see… I think the plot of Open Season is that there’s this bear raised in captivity that gets set out in the wild and he tries to get back to captivity, but instead learns to live in the wild. Yeah, that’s real entertaining.
Seriously people, you can’t come up with ANYTHING other than talking animals have wacky one-liner friends? And are Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher REALLY the best you could do for main characters? I weep for the children.
On the other hand, Billy Connolly is in this as an angry old squirrel, and that was somewhat entertaining. If only because I couldn’t help but imagine him punctuating every sentence with “fuck”, as he is oft wont to do. That made those four minutes or so he was in kinda okay. That’s the best thing I have to say about this movie.
