Oh man, is this a movie about Creepy Crawlers? No, wait… that was the “Thingmaker,” I think. Aww… Now I’m disappointed.

The Monster Maker is about a doctor who’s researching a rare glandular disorder who falls in love with a professional pianist’s daughter. When the pianist refuses to give his consent to the doctor’s stalkerish behavior, doc injects him with the disease he’s been working on finding a cure for, ensuring that he’ll have to come back to the doc for treatment, which he can then withold until he says he can go out with his daughter. The disease makes people all ham-fisted and lumpy everywhere, but it seems a little mean to call him a “monster,” since he never really does any monstrous things, except look ugly.

The doctor in this movie is an incredibly unlikable character. There isn’t a single thing he does that you could relate to, including attempted murder like… three times over the course of the movie. And yet, it’s the “monster” that gets all the poster time. What a ripoff.
