one-star

Like the old adage goes, the only thing worse than a SciFi Channel original movie is… nothing. Okay, I just made that up, but it holds the wisdom of an old adage anyway. They pump these things out once a week, each with a vague theme of a dozen college kids being attacked by some various monster thing.

Grizzly Rage is, of course, about four college kids getting eaten by a bear. Well, actually, they just go into the woods, then completely lack the common sense to leave, so they keep getting attacked by a bear. A bear that never shares a single shot with any of the actors and which isn’t really any more frightening than any other bear you’d see walking around the woods not antagonising anyone. They really hoped that editing could make it seem like these idiot kids were being brutalized and followed by a super-intelligent grizzly or something, but all it does is make the viewer wish for the death of the kids who never do anything. God, I hate college kids in horror movies. At least, thanks to this movie, I know that if my leg ever gets burned (somehow by a bear?), not to go to any college kids for help, or they’ll put a tourniquet on it and leave me in the back of a car that they set fire to in the vein hope of killing a bear.

SciFi Channel original movie = Avoid. The end.
