Starring: Eric Roberts, Arnold Vosloo, John Rhys-Davies

one-star

This is perhaps my favorite DVD cover ever. It has absolutely nothing to do with the movie. Not at all. There’s some noseless guy with vampire teeth and a bloody hand on a wall… Where the hell did they get that from? Why is it so difficult to actually get something from the movie itself to put on the box? I guess it could be because that would mean whoever designs the boxes would have to see the film at least once.

Eric Roberts is a cop after a mass murderer who’s been striking health clubs and strip clubs alike, then dragging off some of the bodies for unknown purposes. Ah, I guess I’ll “spoil” this movie for ya: The killer is an alien poacher, and he’s killing people so he can make jackets out of their skin. Roberts is aided by another alien (Vosloo) who is a sort of game warden for the planet. A bunch of stuff blows up and lots of people get shot in the eye (and good ol’ John Rhys-Davies manages to shoot HIMSELF in the eye), and the evil alien poacher is finally defeated by his species’ weak point: shocks of more than 10 volts. Hey, at least they weren’t allergic to water.

There’s not really much to say about this movie. It’s one of those “let’s throw something together that’ll cost a grand and make two in rentals” sorts of movies that you can find an ever-increasing amount of at your local Blockbuster. In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly where I found this one. Good ol’ Blockbuster.
