Directed by: Mark Waters
Starring: Lindsay Lohan, Jonathan Bennett, Rachel McAdams
So you know how Lindsay Lohan is a big mess nowadays, and how when everybody talks about her, they always say, “and she was so good in Mean Girls…”? Well she is pretty decent in this movie, but let’s not get too crazy about it, okay? It’s not really a loss on the scale of Philip Seymour Hoffman dying or anything.
Lohan is the new girl in high school, having been homeschooled in Africa by her scientist parents until recently. She learns about cliques quickly, and at the suggestion of her weird friends, she infiltrates the popular girls at school, the leader of which is mean. A mean… girl. However, in the process of learning about the mean girls, she becomes one herself. Oh, bitter irony.
There are a couple funny moments, and the plot is just different enough from the standard high school movie garbage that it doesn’t make you want to slit your throat immediately. If you expect me to say anything nicer than that about Mean Girls, then I’m not really sure what site it is you think you’re reading here.
