If you know me or have read this site for a while, you’ll be well aware of my unmeasured hatred of time travel. That being said, the time travel in this movie is ALMOST well done. They obviously spent a lot of time working with it to make sure it all fit together, it’s just that the ending was lame. Instead what ends up being the problem with this movie is… it’s not funny. They forgot about that part, I guess.
Three guys at a bar are visited by a time traveler who tells them that they’re going to be famous. After they discover a time travelling bathroom, they go on an adventure to keep themselves from being murdered by an EVIL time traveler who wants to kill them after their big thing that makes them famous, which is some piece of paper I guess.
The paper making them famous thing doesn’t really make sense, but by the time you get to that point in the movie you’re too bored to care. Chris O’Dowd manages to not be as funny in this as he is in The IT Crowd, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen Anna Faris in a movie that didn’t have “Movie” in the title. The other two main characters are pretty unremarkable and they spend way more time talking about how their time travel thing works than actually trying to be funny. It feels a lot like a first draft of something they got excited about and just made without reading through again.
