Yeah, this is the “final chapter” in the Saw series. Because it’s not like EVERY SINGLE SLASHER SERIES EVER has had a “final chapter” and then gone on to make more movies after it. Nope, I’m pretty sure this is the end for Saw forever. They said so.
Detective Blando and Ex-Girlfriend Lady are still bickering about which of them deserves to be the one who gets to put people in wacky traps to help them with their lives. Meanwhile, they carry out another one last plan that Jigsaw had, which was to teach this guy who wrote a book about surviving a Jigsaw trap what they’re actually like, since he just lied about the whole thing. Also there’s a completely unrelated bit where the guy from Linkin Park gets killed in a car accident!
It’s a neat enough idea, I guess; the whole pretending to be a survivor and then putting him in the actual situation, that’s a decent idea for a Saw movie. It’s far too little far too late, of course, and it’s pointless and stupid that it had to be yet another “one last plan” from Jigsaw. I thought the whole point was that this guy was taking over, not just keeping on doing whatever the other guy’s notes said. Also, this movie has the biggest and dumbest twist ending of them all, which is somehow a fitting way to hopefully end the series. Leave ’em wishing you hadn’t made the last four films in the series, that’s what I always say!
