Directed by: Joel Schumacher
Starring: Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Barbara Hershey
I gotta admit, when the movie started and I saw Schumacher’s name, I expected the worst (and with good reason). Still, Falling Down turned out to be a great movie, in spite of it’s director. Or maybe it was one of those “broken clock is right twice a day” deals, I dunno.
Douglas plays an average, white collar man who’s quick to anger and who just wants to see his daughter for her birthday. As he goes from place to place, his path of destruction increases and he gets more and more armed. Only Robert Duvall, a cop on his last day of work, can crack the case and keep ALL OF HUMANITY FROM BEING DESTROYED!! Or… maybe it’s not that extreme.
I’m starting to think that Michael Douglas is a really underrated actor. Between this and The Game and Wall Street… I mean, he makes this movie. By the end of the film, you’re almost as surprised as the character is when he realizes the police are after him and that’s he’s “the bad guy”. I heartily recommend this film.
