Directed by: Jim Gillespie
Starring: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr.
It’s kinda funny that the poster advertises that this film has the same writer as Scream, since they are basically the exact same movie, only I Know What You Did Last Summer doesn’t have all that obnoxious self-awareness in it. Whoda thunk that slasher movies are all the same?
A group of kids get drunk on the Fourth of July and accidentally hit a fisherman with their car. They dump his body in the lake, and a year later start getting threatening messages. They try to figure out what’s going on, but IS IT TOO LATE?!
One thing I appreciated about IKWYDLS was that, for once, the killer actually has a REASON to go around serial killing. You know, other than just there are teens making out in the amusement park the guy lives in or whatever. In hindsight, that fact that Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar were in both this and the live action Scooby-Doo movies is kinda hilarious, because there was a hell of a lot of that concept in this film.
