Cold Heat (1989)

Cold Heat (1989)

Directed by: Ulli Lommel

Starring: John Phillip Law, Britt Ekland, Robert Sacchi

Oh man, John Phillip Law, the bad guy from MST3K classic Space Mutiny, is a main character in this film. At least there’s no point where his skull seems likely to pop out of his skin.

Law plays an evil crime lord (or something along those lines, it’s all the same shit) who gets his son kidnapped by some random nice people. Both he and his ex-wife blame each other for the kidnapping of the kid, and they send their people after each other. I wish I could tell you that the kid and the guy who kidnapped him actually had some sort of impact on this film, but they really don’t.

It’s really weird, too, that we spend almost NO time with the good guys, not even the bad guys are after the good guys, they’re after each other. Also, the good guys aren’t interesting and the little kid is this annoying piece of shit, so it’s not like you’re really clamoring for more time with them anyway. It’s just a weirdly structured movie.
