You guessed it, it’s the Prince and the Pauper, but in the 90’s and the pauper is a surfer kid. Who never does any surfing. Brought to you by the same production company that gave us The Modern Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Oh boy…
A prince from Madeupaland (I don’t remember the name they used, but it wasn’t that good) is spending some time in California when, by a wacky coincidence, he meets a local kid who looks exactly like him! They decide to switch places for a week, and they both fall in love with the girl the other was hanging out with. Also, they foil Robert Englund’s plan to sell off the whole country and turn it into a golf resort. That’s how small the place is, I guess.
Yes, Robert Englund of Zombie Strippers fame is in this movie, as are C. Thomas Howell and Timothy Bottoms. It’s a trifecta of terrible Z-grade actors that I always recognize and always hate! Really, Robert Englund is the BEST of this trio. Perhaps I should feel bad about knowing who these people are. Yeah, I think I’m gonna go do that. Feel bad.
