Starring: Laura Dern, Jeremy Irons, Justin Theroux
And here I thought Mulholland Drive was a super-indie movie, but man… it doesn’t even come close to Inland Empire. Hell, even Eraserhead isn’t as painfully and pointlessly indie as this shit is.
The story is that Laura Dern is an actress who gets so caught up in her roles, that she loses the ability to discern what’s real and what’s a role she’s in. And basically, her roles have to be pretty shitty, because this is a fucking awful three hour long movie.
Jeremy Irons is in it a little, which is kinda nice, if only because he talks and has a cool voice. Laura Dern, though… Jesus, she’s godawful. She only has one emotional state in the whole film: confused sadness. FOR THREE HOURS SHE JUST STANDS THERE LOOKING SAD WITH HER MOUTH SLIGHTLY AGAPE AS STUPID SHIT HAPPENS AROUND HER. One star is too good of a rating for this “film.” Fuck Inland Empire, fuck David Lynch.
