The Pit and the Pendulum (1961)

The Pit and the Pendulum (1961)

Directed by: Roger Corman

Starring: Vincent Price, Barbara Steele, John Kerr

I have such a weak spot for this type of movie. 60’s, Italian, cheap, cheesy horror flick… It’s just the best. Vincent Price and Edgar Allen Poe are just bonuses as far as I’m concerned.

You know the story, a guy hears his sister has died, and when he gets to her house, he doesn’t believe her husband’s story about her dying from a tragic blood disease. Things get a little crazy when she apparently comes back to life and starts haunting her husband. What did he ever do, besides be the son of the most brutal torturer in Europe? Oh yeah.

This is probably Roger Corman’s best film. I mean, it’s good, and it’s even good the way it was MEANT to be good in. Weird.
