Tekken (2010)

Tekken (2010)

Directed by: Dwight H. Little

Starring: Jon Foo, Kelly Overton, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

Well, sure! Why not? We’ve already got Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Dead or Alive as movies, why not Tekken? I mean, I”m sure there’s new and fresh ground to be covered by guys in half-assed costumes of video game characters punching each other.

In some sort of near-future situation where a whole country is ruled by a corporation (which only runs fighting tournaments, I think), one poor kid manages to gain entrance to the ultimate fighting contest, where, if he wins, he’ll… uh… social reform? Somehow?

I’ve actually not played any Tekken game since the very first one back when the original PlayStation came out. I… feel really old. But, since that’s my knowledge of the series, I didn’t know any of the characters and was confused that they weren’t just floating bundles of pixels that sometimes turned red. Goddamn, video games used to be ugly.
